hi all,
on a second thought - while not meant to be generative in first place, this may be interesting. i have been working quite a lot with ceramics and also with glazes that produce craquelure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craquelure). I have not studied this effect in greater detail (since we only used it as an aesthetically pleasing surface), but i am sure that to some extent the pattern can be controlled by cooling speed and the geometry of the piece underneath the glaze. However, the exact appearance will always remain random. It would sure be interesting to see how the topography of the piece influences the pattern. i have some pieces where this relation visible, unfortunately not right where i am at the moment. i think, i can post some images later.
greez,
niq

Subject: [eu-gene] Generative art that is not software based?
I'm interested in hearing from (or about) folks making generative art mostly or entirely without computers. I.e. the determining system is not software based. Also it should have been executed in the last 3 or 4 years...more recent is better.
